Scientific Machine Learning, emerging topics

Scientific Machine Learning, emerging topics

The international conference “Scientific Machine Learning, emerging topics” (SMLET), organized at SISSA mathLab, is underway June 18th–21st at SISSA in Trieste. The iNEST Consortium is among the sponsors and will be the focus of a panel scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 20th. The 9 Spokes and the Cross-Cutting Activities of iNEST will first be presented and, subsequently, the research areas and initiatives of Spoke 9—Models, Methods, Computing Technologies for Digital Twin, whose leader is SISSA—will be explored.

The SMLET conference focuses on themes closely related to iNEST Spoke 9: mathematics, machine learning algorithms, and their application to scientific computing and engineering disciplines. Both the topics and the audience of SMLET represent an opportunity for the Consortium, as Prof. Gianluigi Rozza, Spoke 9 leader for SISSA, explains: “The international audience of the workshop is a propitious opportunity for the international promotion of the iNEST Consortium and to make young researchers aware of the potential repercussions of their research on machine learning topics, towards the industrial world and not only that.”

The TCube project, a platform based on generative artificial intelligence that will connect the world of research and business, will also be mentioned during the panel. TCube will be integrated within Trieste Lab Village, promoted by Spoke 8 and 9. The panel will therefore be an opportunity for exchange with scientists from around the world, particularly those investigating artificial intelligence and its applications. “iNEST ignites the discussion on issues of innovation, technology transfer, and research exploitation by presenting active experiences in the Northeast of Italy,” Rozza continues. “We must also think about the international attractiveness of expert figures on AI topics: these workshops promote our scientific system.”
